John Volpe is reelected governor of Massachusetts.

In Boston, Volpe (R) receives 110,127 votes and Edward McCormack (D) 100,064 or 74.8%. The first governor elected to a four-year term, Volpe resigns to become U.S. Secretary of Transportation on January 22, 1969.
